It’s been a mixed bag – some cabbage and carrots. Coleslaw Summer, the first single from Mat Hughes’ upcoming debut album, stays true to Mat’s signature energetic, piano-driven arrangements and witty, existential lyrics. Written shortly after returning to Halifax from his cross-Canada ‘Dump Run Tour’ in 2025, Coleslaw Summer wrestles with the futility of creating art at a time when everything seems to be falling apart. Watch Mat perform this tune and many others with his full band at the Lilian Piercey Concert Hall (in the Maritime Conservatory on Chebucto Rd). Mat will be joined by special guest Emilea May.
